Alzheimer's Society (Bexley Branch)

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and their carers. We provide information and support to people with any form of dementia and their carers through our publications, Dementia Connect Support Line, website and local services. We campaign for better quality of life for people with dementia and greater understanding of dementia. We also fund an innovative programme of medical and social research into the cause, cure and prevention of dementia and the care people receive.

BCU Lifeskills Centre

BCU aims to address the basic needs of people to be valued, respected and active members of Society by providing support, advice and training for the unemployed, ethnic minorities, women returners, disabled adults and the socially disadvantaged. We aim to enable adults to cope with their individual circumstances and equip them in the longer term with the skills and confidence necessary to either return to the work-force or into education.

Bexley Borough Pensioners Forum

The Forum are a non party-political equal opportunity organisation. Their principal aim is to promote the welfare and interests of pensioners within the London Borough of Bexley.

Produces a quarterly newsletter and holds general meetings regularly where matters of concern can be raised, discussed and policies developed. They make representations to Bexley Council, MP, MEPs, Health Authorities and the Greater London Council.

Bexley Tinnitus Support Group

Bexley Tinnitus Support Group meet regularly on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and occasionally the last Thursday of the month (Please call to confirm).

It is a social gathering and we also arrange days out.

Erith Town Forum

The Forum is set up to promote the town, to encourage businesses to locate in Erith and monitor the regeneration of the area in order to encourage community participation and cohesion.

We hold regular public meetings at Bexley College at which presentations are given on local environment/housing developments, community safety, health provision, leisure activities. Forum members and the public are invited to fully participate in discussions.

Family Matters

Family Matters provides specialist therapy to victims of rape and sexual abuse and our aim is to relieve the mental and physical distress of children, adolescents and adults who have been victims of this horrific abuse.

The sexual violence can be recent or historic; it can be reported to police or not reported. As a charity our services are subject to funding and at present and we are funded to offer support to clients living within Kent or the London Borough of Bexley or if aged 16 and under we also accept clients from London Boroughs of Greenwich and Bromley.

We also offer a helpline service which is provided by trained volunteers. Opening times : 9am-5.00pm Helpline 7 days a week:01474 537392.

The Hospice cares for over 2,500 people every year, and all of our care is provided free of charge to people living in the Boroughs of Royal Greenwich and Bexley. Our care is delivered to people at home, in care homes, in our Hospice beds, in our Day Hospice and in hospital.

The Asian women's Group is open to all Asian women living and working in the London Borough of Bexley. It provides an opportunity for women to meet to discuss issues of concern to them and share their experiences.
