DESCRIPTION: \n \n \n \n Many people in our communities are al
 ready helping others\, sharing skills\, offering s
upport and making a difference — but they may not
see themselves as “volunteers”. These hidden helpe
rs can be an incredible source of energy\, knowled
ge and community connection\, but traditional volu
nteering opportunities do not always feel accessib
 le\, relevant or welcoming to them.\n \n \n \n Thi
s free\, interactive workshop is designed for volu
nteer managers\, coordinators and anyone involved
in recruiting\, supporting or developing volunteer
 s. The session will explore how we can better reco
gnise hidden volunteering\, understand what may st
op people from coming forward\, and think differen
tly about how we design and promote opportunities.
  \n \n \n \n During the workshop\, we will look at
:\n \n \n \n Who the hidden “volunteers” in our co
mmunities might be\n \n \n \n Why some people are
already helping informally but do not join formal
 volunteering opportunities\n \n \n \n Common barri
ers that are not always about time\, cost or flexi
 bility\n \n \n \n How a different approach to conv
ersations and role design can improve volunteer en
 gagement\n \n \n \n Practical ways to identify bar
riers and open up volunteering to more people\n \n
\n \n The session will also include a short pract
ical exercise to help participants “meet” a hidden
helper in their community and consider what might
make volunteering feel possible\, relevant and wo
 rthwhile for them.\n \n \n \n This is a great oppo
rtunity to step back\, reflect on current recruitm
ent approaches and explore how small changes could
help more people see a place for themselves in vo
 lunteering.\n \n \n \n  \n \n \n \n You must regis
ter to attend this event. \n \n \n \n Please note:
This workshop will take place in person. The venu
e will be confirmed once we have a clearer idea of
  numbers.\n \n \n \n \n \n At Bexley VSC and Volun
teer Centre Bexley\, we strive to create inclusive
\, respectful spaces for all—whether attending eve
 nts\, training\, or volunteering. By taking part\,
you agree to uphold our shared commitment of expe
cted behaviours that ensure welcoming\, positive e
 ngagement. \n \n \n \n \n \n
