Excel bitesize 1. Managing your data. (Superhighways and BVSC Summer School)

Registration is closed for this event
Our Summer School upskills your Bexley group with 5 sessions to transform the way your group understands and presents its data. Join BVSC and Superhighways as we open up an exciting world in a programme that many of us take for granted: Excel. We'll be working towards something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdnKgRNAYJE

It's easy to pick up and start using Excel for small data collection jobs, only to find they grow into enormous groaning spreadsheets full of inconsistencies and time-consuming work arounds.

Come and join us in this session to find out how to get your spreadsheet on track and doing what it's meant to be doing - saving you time, facilitating effective service delivery and enabling you and your team to get insight into the bigger picture.

What we’ll be covering

  • Understanding the Excel ribbon & what's available
  • Working with Excel sheets (adding, moving, renaming, colour coding & framing)
  • Adding & formatting tables
  • Sorting & filtering data
  • Adding slicers (visual filters)
  • Calculated columns and totals
  • Printing

Course format: Online technical group training

This is an online interactive live training session. You'll take part in interactive exercises such as breakout room discussions, polls or chat conversations.

You will be asked to complete individual technical tasks on your PC or laptop. You will not be able to join this training using a mobile device.

It's likely that you will need to either create online accounts or download appropriate software, which we'll tell you about in advance.

Is this course for me?

This is not suitable for people who haven’t used Excel before. It is a pre-intermediate course so aimed at people who have a basic understanding and experience of working with Excel but want to take it to the next level.

The course is the first session in our Excel Bitesize programme a modular programme designed to give you the core Excel skills required to successfully manage, analyse, interpret, summarise and present your data.

This session is designed for people using Microsoft Excel 2016 or 2019 on a Windows PC / laptop. If you have an earlier version of Excel or work on a Mac you'll find that some of the features we look at either don't exist or are accessed differently, which can be a bit confusing.

Am I eligible for this course?

BVSC’s Impact in Action project has teamed up with Superhighways to offer this course using funding from the City of London Corporation’s charity, City Bridge Trust directed towards work in the Bexley borough. As such we can only accept participants who work for community and voluntary organisations working in the London Borough of Bexley.

Trainers

Superhighways will be taking the session. BVSC staff have been on many of their training sessions and recommend them highly. If you'd like to make the most of this opportunity book today.
