Description
Excel has many features to help you get data in the precise format that you need. Sometimes, the task is straightforward and there is a specific feature that does the job for you. At other times, you may need to use more complex methods to get the job done.
This session will guide you through how to ensure data entry is validated to stop errors occurring at the point of entry, how to use formatting, functions & formulas to identify
issues and clean up data, and how to work with sensitive data like postcodes and transform them into anonymised, grouped data for geographical analysis.
What we’ll be covering
- Conditional formatting
- Identifying & removing duplicates
- Data validation & pick lists
- Standardising data formats
- Using formulas to clean, correct & manipulate data
Course format: Online technical group training
This is an online interactive live training session. You'll take part in interactive exercises such as breakout room discussions, polls or chat conversations.
You will be asked to complete individual technical tasks on your PC or laptop. You will not be able to join this training using a mobile device.
It's likely that you will need to either create online accounts or download appropriate software, which we'll tell you about in advance.
Is this course for me?
This is a follow-on course from our MS Excel bitesize 1: Managing your data and is part of our Excel Bitesize programme, we would encourage you to work through the courses in order as the skills learnt in each session build on from one to another.
This session is designed for people using Microsoft Excel 2016 or 2019 on a Windows PC / laptop. If you have an earlier version of Excel or work on a Mac you'll find that some of the features we look at either don't exist or are accessed differently which can be a bit confusing.
