Phillip's Story

Phillip has been an office and events volunteer at BVSC and the Volunteer Centre for 10 months, supporting the team for 2.5 hours a week. He found the role through the Volunteer Support Project and he has taken on a variety of different tasks since he first came in June 2017. The staff and volunteers all agree that he quickly become part of the team and everyone appreciates his hard work and his great sense of humour. This is our '5 minutes with Phillip':

What do you do in your role?

I help out around the office. I do the shredding, setting up and tidying up after training, advertising events and helping to run them.

What do you enjoy about your volunteering role?

I like to help out other people, when they want help. I enjoy advertising and helping out at events. I have helped make the tea and coffee at the Volunteer Fairs. I have met a lot of people and organisations since I started.

What difference has volunteering made to you?

It’s nice to know that people are pleased to see me when I come in. I like making people feel happy. I have also learnt a lot about Bexley and what goes on in the Borough.

What would you tell others if they were interested in Volunteering?

Get involved. If you want to help people and give something back then speak to the Volunteer Centre.
