Age UK Bexley is a highly regarded charity offering a wide range of services for older people in the Borough. It is also a voice for older people on issues affecting them through increased awareness, consultation and contact with clients, ensuring opinions and ideas are heard.

Age UK Bexley has a healthy reserve and continues to make significant steps during the year to ensure our future work with older people in the Borough.

We have an excellent reputation, continue to provide quality services under grants and contracts from London Borough of Bexley and we are involved in helping them and our NHS partners look at ways of meeting an increasing need amongst older people.

Over the last 4 years we have transformed the organisation and now run a diverse range of services. Our new Chief Executive will be joining the organisation at an exciting time for Age UK Bexley with the opportunity to develop and expand our services from a stable base. 

The role: 

◼ To work with the Trustees of Age UK Bexley to ensure that the charity achieves its objectives to promote the rights, and support the interests of older people from all sections of the community in the London Borough of Bexley

◼ To take a lead in setting a clear direction for the future, and to manage and lead staff and volunteers of Age UK Bexley so that high quality services are provided

◼ To maximise resources, through planning and implementation of effective fundraising and income generation strategies

◼ To ensure that Age UK Bexley manages its external relationships in a way that promotes the welfare of older people in Bexley and enhances the image of the organisation

◼ To ensure that Age UK Bexley effectively markets its services to ensure older people are able to access the services they need.

The candidate: 

◼ Senior executive experience of managing a relevant organisation or management at a senior level

◼ Experience of securing funding and the ability to maximise income from a wide range of sources

◼ Knowledge, experience and understanding of strategic planning across all business areas including marketing, IT Finance an HR, and service development planning

◼ Commitment to and empathy with older people and a knowledge of their needs 

◼ Ability to form partnerships with voluntary, statutory or commercial parties
