Role Description

Belvedere Community Forum [BCF] is looking for a Governance Manager to run their Belvedere Community Centre. This is an exciting opportunity as it is a newly created post that involves being responsible for all aspects of the centre. This involves managing members of staff as well as volunteers and being accountable to the trustees. The Board is especially looking for a person that has a genuine desire to make a difference in the local community.

The role will ensure that the Belvedere Community Centre is a viable business in the long term and a key asset for the community. The Governance Manager will ensure that all administration processes are efficient and deliver a high standard of service to all centre users.

Experience as a line manager is desirable.  BCF will be looking for a creative person who shows initiative when dealing with all aspects of centre management and is proactive in improving processes, delegating and problem solving, You should be able to work independently and be a strong team player. You will have excellent customer skills and IT skills; including MS Office and Excel. You will take a pride in your work, communicate well with people on all levels and be able to build excellent working relationships. Previous experience in the voluntary sector and managing a community centre or similar would be an advantage.

The Belvedere Community Centre is run by a charity that took over the management of the centre from Bexley Council in October 2014.

Details of the role

  • Fixed term contract. There will be a probationary period of 6 months
  • Salary: £29,306 pro rata
  • Hours :(15 hours per week with the potential to rise to 20 hours per week) £15.00 per hour.

Hours will be negotiated as part of the contract.
