Role Description

Smiley Ark Kids organisation is a well-established, OFSTED registered provision which provides inclusive play services for children aged 4 – 11 years with and without disabilities in the London Borough of Bexley.

The team are committed to providing a high-quality level of care to the children, parents and carers who come to our Club.    Their aim is to make a direct difference to the to the lives of children and young people wherever possible by encouraging them to explore new interests and participate in activities to which they may not usually have access in a safe, child-friendly environment.                                                                                          

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced play worker to become part of the team assisting the Play Leader with the day to day running of the Breakfast and After School Clubs.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the day to day running of Breakfast and After School Clubs under the supervision of the Play Leader
  • Implementation of activities, including EYFS children and children with disabilities

Skills and Abilities Required

  • 1-2 years experience of providing high quality childcare in a similar role
  • Experience of inclusive play and relevant Early Years/Play Work
  • Child and family-centred approach
  • Good working knowledge of OFSTED requirements and relevant Childcare legislation  
  • Ensuring that Policies and Procedures are adhered to and implemented accordingly
  • Able to work in a team
  • Enthusiasm & commitment
  • Professionalism
  • Good command of English and high level of literacy & numeracy
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • The post is subject to enhanced DBS check & satisfactory references

Desirable

  • Level 2/3 Childcare qualification
  • Valid Driving licence (preferably with own car)

Hours

15 – 21.15 per week (between 7.30am – 8.45am & 3pm-6pm on a flexible shift rota basis)

Additional Information

As part of Continued Professional Development, the successful candidate will be required to undertake relevant training.  Some training is compulsory and this may have to be done at weekends and evenings.

The position is based in Crayford but may be required to cover at other clubs in the local area from time to time (including holiday clubs).
