London Plus has today published The State of London’s Voluntary Sector Infrastructure, the first report in a three-part series titled A System at Risk: London’s Voluntary Sector Infrastructure. This first report spotlights the vital role of Local Infrastructure Organisations (LIOs) in connecting, supporting, and strengthening London’s voluntary, community and faith sector (VCFS).
With over 43,000 registered charities and social enterprises, and countless grassroots groups, London’s VCFS is both dynamic and diverse. While LIOs play a critical role in this ecosystem by supporting VCFS organisations to get started, build skills and capacity, and remain resilient, they currently operate in a challenging environment.
We hope this report provides insight into how we can achieve the ambitions of a healthier, stronger, fairer, and more resilient London, and the strategic shift needed across central and local government, the NHS, and charitable funders in how LIOs are recognised, supported, and sustained.
